Boost your performance with Brix

At KWS, we offer multiple red beet varieties that combine high brix levels, attractive colors, and long shelf life. Consumers love our red beets for their sweet taste, even after a longer storage period. Our red beet varieties have the highest Brix level in the market. This allows us to keep the flavor optimal for longer periods of time.

Super sweet and multifunctional

Retailers want varieties with an intense and consistent taste experience, driving consumers to make repeat purchases. That’s why we have developed red beet varieties that simply taste better. Honestly, they’re the sweetest you’ll ever try. No wonder our varieties are very popular for juicing. What’s more is that the high brix value maintains the flavor of our beet varieties, even after a longer storage period. This makes them ideal for vacuum packaging. Moreover, consumers are looking for convenient solutions. Ease of preparation, including peeling, is becoming more popular. Our varieties meet these needs, both for the processing industry and for the fresh market.

“KWS’ red beet varieties are perfect for cooking and vacuum packaging, saving consumers a lot of time in the kitchen. Despite the high sugar content, the plants remain strong and the beets have a good attractive color.”

Accelerating resistance

The market for red beet is growing rapidly, not in the least because this colorful vegetable is so healthy and nutritious. About a decade ago, we started breeding red beets. In recent years, we’ve significantly accelerated the evolution of our beet portfolio. Today, our focus is on incorporating KWS sugarbeet technology in our red beet program, so that we can offer the best varieties on the market. Our ambition: to become a world-class player in red beet.

“Currently we are incorporating disease genetics (Rhizomania) from the KWS sugarbeet program into our red beet genetics. The first results are already remarkable and promises a lot for the future.”
